Fashion Foodie

I have been on slimming world for a few months now and have happily lost loads of weight but one of the things that I do miss is being able to eat cupcakes whenever I want.
Luckily Twinkie Chan has bought out a great crochet book that shows you how to make your own cupcake scarf as well as other projects so I could get my cake fix without wrecking my diet. Some would say it would be torture making tons of cupcakes as a constant reminder of what I can't have, but they were so fun to make I didn't notice.
I used Merino blend wool so it's nice and soft and used multi-coloured bamboo yarn for the sprinkle. It made up really quickly but didn't look that great until it was finished. There's a few other projects in the book that I want to try especially the popcorn scarf.

The book is nice and colourful, plus easy to follow despite the patterns being American. I had a look at what other people had done on Ravelry and there were lots of variations of colours of the cupcakes and I can't believe I didn't consider playing with the colour myself. Someone had done a blue and white variation which I really liked and might consider making more with some different colours in future.

Grim Fandango

I'm a big fan of the Mexican 'Day of the Dead' festival which probably started after playing the fantastic point and click game 'Grim Fandango', it so quirky and bright. I love sugar skulls and decided to make my own. Although I can't really take credit for the design as I did kind of copy the design from some one else (I forget who, sorry) but liked the original so much I decided to make my own. I might make a few more in different sizes with varying colour and design.

Magic

Crochet is so much quicker than knitting, so I've managed to make this amigurumi mushroom pretty quickly and I managed to use random bits and bobs from my stash too

Granny Squares

Knitting hasn't been going well this month, I've tried a few projects but nothing seemed to working out, so I decided to pick up my hook and start crochet again. Ever since I first learned how to crochet I've wanted to make granny squares, but couldn't get my head around it, but a few days ago I decided to have another go and after a few attempts everything clicked and I've managed to make a few, I have decided to make a blanket as this would be a great way to bust my growing stash.

Indie Scarf

I made another scarf from Sirdar Indie yarn, this shade is called Little Bighorn, I really enjoyed knitting with this wool, the only problem was that because the tones are very dark I couldn't see the gradients changing colour too clearly, which to me is a lot of the joy that comes from a yarn of this type, it's been keeping me warm though and looks great now that it's done

Sage Green Mittens

These are the last pair of mittens for a while, these were made from Debbie Bliss Fez (colour 20506) although I don't know what my next projects will be although I want it to be something that will teach me some new skills.

Woof

These mittens have been knitted for my friend Lucy as it's her birthday next week. The dog character is made from felt and is based on her dog Mouse, who she loves more than anything and I've also stitched the word 'woof' into a speech bubble on the other mitten. They are 100% merino by Rico and sadly the colour of the yarn does not have a name but the shade is a kind of a burgundy red. These were the last mittens I was gonna knit for a while but because my boyfriends mother liked the ones she got or Christmas so much she has requested another pair in sage green.
